Common Questions
Financing FAQ
Do I need a down payment?
Most marine loans require 10–30% down depending on loan amount, credit tier, and unit type. Our payment calculator assumes 30% down as a conservative baseline. In some cases, zero-down options exist for well-qualified buyers — ask our finance team.
What credit score do I need?
There is no hard minimum. We work with lenders who serve a wide range of credit profiles. If you’re rebuilding credit, we may be able to structure a deal with a larger down payment or co-signer. The only way to know is to apply.
How long does approval take?
Most applications receive a decision the same business day. Complex profiles or large loan amounts may take 24–48 hours as we shop additional lenders. We’ll keep you posted every step of the way.
Can I finance a boat I found elsewhere?
Our in-house financing is available for units purchased through The Boat Broker. For private-party purchases, a bank or credit union may be a better fit — happy to point you in the right direction.
Does applying affect my credit score?
A formal credit application requires a hard pull, which may temporarily affect your score by a few points. Pre-qualification inquiries with some lenders use a soft pull instead. We’ll let you know which applies before we submit.
Can I pay off my loan early?
Most of our lender partners allow early payoff without penalty. However, loan terms vary by lender — verify prepayment terms in your loan documents before signing. Our finance team will highlight this for you.
What about boat insurance?
Lenders require comprehensive insurance as a loan condition. We can refer you to marine insurance specialists in the area, or you can work with your existing carrier. Proof of insurance is required before we release the unit.
