In Arizona, children under 12 years old may not operate a motorized boat without a licensed adult physically present. Ages 12-17 may operate a motorized boat only if they have completed an approved boater safety course. Anyone born after January 1, 1985 must carry their boater education certification regardless of age. There is no minimum age requirement for non-motorized vessels.
