How fast can a pontoon boat go?

Most standard pontoon boats with 115-150 HP engines top out at 22-28 mph. Performance pontoons (tritoons) with 200-400 HP engines can reach 40-50 mph. For Lake Havasu day use — cruising, sandbar anchoring, and tubing at 15-20 mph — a 115-150 HP pontoon is more than adequate. If speed and wake sports are priorities, a tritoon with 200+ HP or a different boat type is a better fit.
