What is the best engine size for a pontoon on Lake Havasu?

For most Lake Havasu pontoon use, 115-150 HP hits the sweet spot of performance and fuel economy. A 115 HP engine comfortably moves a 22-foot pontoon with 8 people and handles light tubing. Step up to 150 HP if you tow tubes regularly. If you have a 24+ foot tritoon or want meaningful speed above 30 mph, 200-250 HP is worth the premium. Yamaha and Mercury are the dominant engine brands in the Lake Havasu market.
